Agriculture and allied sectors are critical in terms of employment and livelihoods for the small and marginal farmers, who dominate the agriculture ecosystem in India. Indian agriculture has witnessed many quantum jumps with reference to increase in area, production and productivity of major crops since independence due to green revolution and technological interventions by ICAR and state Agricultural Universities. In order to achieve self-sufficiency in food production and to meet growing food requirements, Green Revolution was launched in 1967 and lasted till 1978. A strong base established under Green Revolution resulted in Self-sufficiency in food grain production with the production of 329.6 million tons during 2022-23 in India. However, enhancement of the growth and development of agriculture in India, to meet the challenges posed by growing population in terms of food requirements, it’s mandatory to motivate and encourage the youth towards this sector. The young generation must be given adequate training on the need and importance of agriculture by strengthening the educational infrastructure. This requires launching of massive awareness programmes among the youth, focusing on various facets of agriculture and allied sectors. Agricultural education creates many avenues for employment in both public and private sectors. It offers excellent opportunities to the agricultural graduates in banking sector by joining as Field officers, in state Government as Agricultural officers, in private and public sector, fertilizer and pesticides firms and so on. Graduates can also peruse higher education in agriculture to set up themselves as Assistant Professor, Research Scholar and scientists. Adding on to the crown student can excel themselves as entrepreneurs by establishing Agro industries. The college is endowed with excellent infrastructure, well equipped laboratory for all the departments. Crop field and other allied sectors are well maintained for acquiring Practical skills and sample Knowledge. I convey my gratitude and best wishes to all the students. I bestow my blessings to the students to keep striving for such excellence and keep progressing in the carrier development.
